Progressive Achievement Test in Reading
The Progressive Achievement Test in Reading also called PAT Reading is taken by students of Class 1 to 10 in Australia. The test measures Reading Skills of students. School Teachers, Administrators and Parents with the help of PAT P Score may know where a child stand in reading skills and take measures to improve in weaker areas.
The PAT Reading Fifth Edition has replaced the need for PAT Reading Comprehension for Online delivery since 16 July, 2018.
The PAT: Progressive Achievement Test in Reading asks multiple choice questions. Students knowledge and reading skills are measured based on vocabulary and synonymous. The administrators can buy PAT P for students below year 4 however ACER recommends to book the test towards end of 4 year.
PAT Reading Test Pattern Year 1 to 10
According to ACER Official Australia Website:
Comprehension covers the first year of school to Year 10. Test 2 to Test 10 require 40 minutes of testing time plus approximately 15 minutes administration time. Although Comprehension Test Prep and Test 1 have no time limits, the tests should take about 30 minutes and 40 minutes respectively. Online Comprehension starts from Test 1. Test P is only available in print.

- Test 3 contains 28 questions – Year 2 or 3 or 4

- Vocabulary covers Year 3 to Year 10 and requires 25 minutes of testing time plus administration time.

- Test 3 contains 38 questions – Year 6 or 7 or 8
- Test 4 contains 40 questions – Year 7 or 8 or 9
- Test 5 contains 40 questions – Year 8 or 9 or 10
- Spelling covers Year 2 to Year 10 and contains nine spelling lists that are administered orally. It requires 10 minutes of testing time plus administration time.
